Vitor de Lima

Tech Lead · Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

I build and lead digital products that scale well and are easy to run and maintain, from the front-end to the cloud infrastructure.

About

Hi, I'm Vitor.

I'm a senior full stack software engineer and I've worked on high-traffic digital products since 2017: news portals, e-commerce, health and insurance platforms. I build front-ends with React and Next.js, back-ends with Node.js and TypeScript, and I take care of the cloud infrastructure.

I was a tech lead on product teams. I set engineering standards, designed systems that scale and are easy to monitor, built CI/CD pipelines and ran cloud governance on GCP and AWS. Today, at Kovi, I lead the in-house rebuild of the corporate site's catalog and product pages.

In my own projects I use Kafka for event-driven architecture, gRPC with Protocol Buffers contracts between microservices, and Terraform to provision GCP infrastructure. I'm also an AI enthusiast: I run local LLMs with Ollama inside APIs and have built chatbots with IBM Watson and Rasa.

Expertise

Architecture, cloud and applied AI

01

Software architecture

Clean Architecture, DDD and CQRS in NestJS APIs and React front-ends, with well-separated layers and business rules that stay framework-independent.

02

Event-driven systems

Asynchronous Kafka pipelines that split ingestion from persistence, so the system scales safely and handles traffic spikes.

03

Microservices

Services that talk over gRPC, with Protocol Buffers contracts and an HTTP facade (BFF) in front, documented with OpenAPI.

04

Cloud and infrastructure as code

GCP and AWS with Terraform: Cloud Run, App Engine, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub and Cloud Tasks. I ship through GitHub Actions and Jenkins pipelines, with keyless deploys to GCP via Workload Identity Federation.

05

Observability

Metrics, logs and traces with the Grafana stack (Prometheus, Loki and Tempo), OpenTelemetry, Datadog and Sentry. In the code, structured logs with Pino and health checks in the services.

06

Applied AI

Local LLMs (Ollama with Qwen) running inside APIs to make structured, deterministic decisions.

Experience

Where I've worked

  1. 03/2025 to present

    Senior Software Engineer · Kovi

Brought the corporate site's catalog and product pages in-house as a HubSpot CMS app built with React, integrated in real time with the internal system. Observability with OpenTelemetry and tests with Cypress and Jest.

  2. 05/2023 to 11/2024

DevOps Tech Lead · Porto Seguro

Tech lead for the Financial Risks teams (Real Estate and Capitalization). I owned engineering standards, GCP governance and costs, the migration from AWS to GCP, and CI/CD pipelines that cut the average deploy time.

  3. 02/2023 to 06/2023

    Tech Lead · DASA

Tech lead for the exam and appointment scheduling portal, focused on user experience, with serverless infrastructure on AWS.

  4. 06/2021 to 01/2023

Senior Full Stack Developer · SBT

Technical owner of the SBT News portal and, for part of that time, tech lead of SBT's corporate website. I also designed the architecture of the 2022 presidential election results aggregator.

  5. 03/2021 to 09/2021

    Senior Back-end Developer · Medcel

Serverless back-end services to integrate academic partners, with CI/CD on AWS and lower operating costs.

  6. 11/2019 to 03/2021

Full Stack Developer III · FCamara

Market indicator microservices integrated with Big Data for AllInvest, and the "Espaço Pet" loyalty program for the Cobasi e-commerce.

  7. 10/2017 to 11/2019

    Full Stack Developer · Corebiz

Consulting for Whirlpool on VTEX IO, including Latin America's first sales chatbot, at Clube Compra Certa, built with OpenCV and IBM Watson.
